Maybe; Maybe Not

There once was a farmer, who bought himself
an old run down farm.
The old farm had a big oak tree in the front yard.
The farmer and his son worked hard to fix the place up.
They built a gate for the fence and bought themselves a horse.
The neighbors came over to welcome the farmer and his family to their new farm.
The neighbors complimented the farmer on all the hard work he and his son had done and told them what a
good job they had done.
The farmer’s only reply was “…maybe; maybe not…”
That night a big storm came through and blew the
oak tree down onto the gate.
The farmer’s horse got out and ran away…
The neighbors came over and told the farmer what a bad thing that the oak tree had fallen on the gate and how bad it was that the horse had gotten out and run away.
The farmer’s only reply was “…maybe; maybe not…”
The farmer and his son worked hard to fix the place up.
They re-built a gate for the fence.
That evening the horse came back, but he brought
10 wild mustangs with him.
The neighbors came over and told the farmer what a good thing it was that the gate was fixed and that the horse had brought back more horses with him.
The farmer’s only reply was “…maybe; maybe not…”
That next morning the son was out breaking the new horses.
He fell off of one of the mustangs and broke his leg.
The neighbors came over and told the farmer it was a bad thing that his son had broken his leg.
The farmer’s only reply was “…maybe; maybe not…”
That next day General George Custer was on his way
to Little Big Horn.
He came to the farmer’s house looking for recruits.
General Custer wouldn’t take the son because of his broken leg.
Well, we all know what happened to General
Custer and his men.
What initially appears to be a bad thing or a good thing;
Maybe and then again it may not be…
